There have been many developments over the years to make the news seem more important with a 24 hour news cycle. At the same time news has become so ubiquitous that it is in your face constantly and except for my addiction the news seems less important because I can get it everywhere I go. Also news sites that compile the stories, much like a TV Station used to do, are also able to compile print media in such a way that the news is sorted whenever and wherever you want. What would be the point of having another news site linking to news that is already everywhere? No point, it doesn’t seem to be a necessary product for the media market.
The enjoyment I get from reading the news is similar to the joy I used to get when I was a kid delivering newspapers, like there is information about what goes on in the world and if I read it then I am privy to an understanding of the times we live in. The combination of news stories that I read in a given day make up my feeling about the times and the zeitgeist that we live with. I am going to try a quick version of the linking to news by reducing it to ten links a day, direct links, and see if I can make a sort of historical document of the news that summarized each day as I go through it.
Ten seems to be like a good number of news articles, but I am not going to worry about being exact. Each day I’ll create a page or a posting that will be added to as the day goes on. I’ll republish the front page on TopTenNewsStories.com and see if it builds any relevance that makes it worth continuing. Comments and opinions on the news may be kept here at Live Action News.com with individual stories getting a sort of editorial review just for the fun of it. Ten a day, can I do it? I only have nine loosely organized categories for the news, so something will get duplicated if I tried to do one for each category. Still it won’t be that hard if I don’t waste time editorializing everything I come across.
